Maskulin Feminin Neutrum Plural
der Süden — south
No plural — used the same way as der Norden, der Osten, der Westen (the other geographic directions), and rarely takes an indefinite article. This drill sticks to the definite article only. "Südamerika" (South America, below) is bundled with this word in the dictionary source.

It only takes "das" when modified by an adjective, e.g. "das sonnige Südamerika." Bundled with "der Süden" in the dictionary source.
